Disneyland Paris World of Disney in Disney Village Reopens on May 22

Disneyland Paris World of Disney in Disney Village Reopens on May 22Travel news reveals that fans of Disneyland Paris can look forward to the World of Disney reopening on May 22, 2021. This date was given by a labor union and Disneyland Paris has no official date for reopening but the news is promising.

Good News is On the Horizon

After a COVID shutdown, Disneyland Paris reopened in July 2020 but then closed again on October 30, 2020. It has been shuttered since then even though it was expected to reopen on April 2, 2021.

Disneyland Paris was initially called Euro Disney Resort. It is located in Chessy, France, 20 miles east of Paris.

The complex includes two theme parks, resort hotels, Disney Nature Resorts plus other amenities. This include tons of shopping, dining, and entertainment locations as well as a golf course.

There is Good News for Disney Fans

Disneyland Park is the original structure of the complex and opened in 1992. In 2002 Walt Disney Studios Park opened.

In 2017 Disneyland Paris celebrated its 25th anniversary. Over the years the park became the most visited theme park in Europe with some 320 million people walking through the turnstiles.

The Paris location was the second Disney park to debut outside of the United States and is the largest Disney resort outside of the United States. The first was Tokyo Disney Resort which debuted in 1983.

Of note, Disneyland Paris is the only non-US Disney resort that is completely owned by The Walt Disney Company.

What Happens Next For Disneyland Paris?

In 2014 Walt Disney announced a $1.25 billion bailout plan to bring Disneyland Paris back into the black. According to the Financial Times the park was drowning in debt despite its VIP name and mystique.

It wasn’t until 2017 that Disney took complete ownership of the property.

At that time The Walt Disney Company bought 9% of the company from Kingdom Holding and later implemented a full buyout of all outstanding shares

When the plan for a Disney park in France was announced not everyone was on board with the family-friendly destination. The Mouse House was instead met with debate and controversy from cultural critics reportedly were aghast at such an American iconoclast coming to reside within its borders.

Prominent French intellectuals went on a rant about the usurpation of French culture by the American park. Others decried the alleged “American type” of consumerism polluting their cultural ideals. Is now a good time to remind readers of the great love France’s citizenry have for Jerry Lewis?
