You Can Visit The Island Of Kauai In Hawaii By Staying In A ‘Resort Bubble’The lovely Hawaiian island of Kauai is inviting visitors to try out their pre- and post-travel COVID-19 program at a comfortable ‘resort bubble’ hotel.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, travelers are longing for lush green tropical islands with gorgeous beaches. Now, with a new initiative offered by the Hawaiian island of Kauai, it is becoming a possibility.

Kauai Invites Out-Of-State Visitors

Any Americans wishing to travel to the island of Kauai will be happy to find out that the Hawaiian island has started a pre- and post-travel COVID-19 testing program. The program is for out-of-state visitors who will stay in the island’s official “resort bubble” hotels.

The new initiative forms part of new travel protocols for both mainland and inter-island travelers. Kauai was the only Hawaiian county to opt out of the state’s pre-travel testing program. That program sees visitors with a negative COVID-19 test being allowed to bypass the mandatory two-week quarantine.

Kauai has introduced its own new travel protocols, the first of which applies to out-of-state travelers arriving on the island. They will receive a negative pre-travel test and will stay in an approved Enhanced Movement Quarantine (EMQ) or resort bubble. These visitors will be able to take a post-travel test three days after their arrival on the island and if they obtain a negative result, will be released from quarantine and can explore further.
Those who decide to stay in a non-EMQ hotel or other accommodation on arrival on Kauai will not be able to leave their rooms and will need to undergo Kauai’s full, 10-day traveler quarantine, without the option of a post-travel test.

Resort Bubbles In Paradise

While it might sound a chore to stay in a resort bubble, bear in mind that travelers will have a truly comfortable stay. The EMQ hotels on offer include the Hilton Garden Inn Kauai Wailua Bay, The Cliffs at Princeville, The Club at Kukui‘ula, Timbers Kauai Ocean Club & Residences at Hokuala, Ko’a Kea Hotel & Resort at Poipu and the Kauai Marriott.

Visitors get to enjoy all the resort amenities for the first three days of their stay. Should they then receive a negative test result, they are free to leave the hotel and start exploring the island.

Visiting Kauai For Inter-Island Travelers

For those inter-island visitors flying in from the Big Island, Maui or Oahu, they can avoid the quarantine by taking a number of steps. They will first create a Safe Travels account and complete the mandatory State of Hawaii

Travel and Health Form. They will then take an approved pre-travel test after being in Hawaii for more than three days, but within 72 hours of arriving on Kauai. The negative test results will then be uploaded to the Safe Travels account. Travelers are further asked to present a hard copy of their test result on arrival at Lihue Airport.

For those planning a visit to Kauai, more information is available on the County of Kauai official website.
Again, while this may sound a chore, imagine the wonderful adventures you will be able to enjoy on the beautiful island of Kauai – it makes it all worthwhile!
