This will be the second year that Grandvalira, Andorra is hosting the Audi FIS Alpine World Ski Cup Finals. Here, the world elite of alpine skiing head out on the slopes of Grandvalira for the finals of the event.

The finals will see the 25 best skiers in each World Cup category meeting up again and competing for the cup in each discipline in both the men’s and women’s categories as follows: Slalom, giant slalom, super-G and downhill.

Meanwhile, the races are some of the most important events worldwide in the sport of alpine skiing, second only to the Olympics and the World Championships.

Nine competition races are set to be held on the Avet and Àliga slopes on Grandvalira. Moreover, the finals will open with the men’s and women’s downhill, followed by the super-G in two categories. These are the women’s slalom and the men’s giant slalom, then closing with the women’s giant slalom and the men’s slalom. Moreover, a new event this year will be the parallel giant team race.

About the slopes

The Avet slope is located in the Soldeu sector and has a length of more than 1.2 km (0.75 mi) with a maximum gradient of 65 percent. This slope is set to host the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom.

Meanwhile, the Àliga slope is located in the El Tarter sector and has a double track. Reportedly, the bird’s eye view of the track forms the ‘X’ that symbolizes the Grandvalira logo. This slope will see the speed races. Moreover, this slope is 2.7 km (1.7 mi) long, with an elevation gain of more than 700 meters (0.4 mi).

Après Ski and entertainment

On a lighter note, L’Abarset and the Soldeu platform will host entertainment activities, including daily Après Ski parties. Moreover, the World Cup Village is where the family can enjoy children’s activities.
