Fiji Drops Travel Restrictions While Returning To Normal Tourism

Another popular travel destination has put COVID-19 in its rearview mirror, as Fiji drops travel restrictions and returns to normal. International travelers will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination.
Meanwhile, travel insurance is no longer required (but is still recommended). Moreover, this comes around six months since the country dropped the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours after arrival.
Fiji returns to normal tourism

Around six months ago, Fiji dropped the requirement for a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours after arrival. Now, it has been announced that proof of vaccination is no longer required for international travelers visiting the country. Moreover, travel insurance is no longer mandatory for international tourists. The South Pacific country is ready to welcome travelers and has already improved tourism, and has recovered 71 percent of its tourist numbers in the wake of COVID.

On the subject of vaccinations, Fiji has reached a 93 percent fully vaccinated rate. Moreover, the country has recorded low hospitalization rates, prompting it to drop all COVID-19 border regulations. However, the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) did emphasize that it will still focus on implementing COVID-19 safety measures for those who are vulnerable.
Fiji has taken its time in removing travel restrictions relating to COVID-19 as compared to other countries. However, it took a more conservative approach and its emphasis has been on safety procedures and protocols, to attract travelers who are COVID-conscious and looking for locations that meet their health standards.
Brent Hill, Chief Executive of Tourism Fiji, said in a statement:
The industry welcomes the decision to remove all protocols, restrictions, vaccination requirements, and COVID-19 tests – and invites the world to come and experience Fiji: where happiness comes naturally.
What does Fiji have to offer?
The country has more than 333 islands to explore, all with beautiful white-sand beaches and friendly people. The country has welcomed more than 630,000 travelers, which is 71 percent of those visiting in 2019. Moreover, the national airline, Fiji Airways, plays on carrying two million passengers in 2023, while the country tries to position itself away from being a hard-to-reach exotic location.
It should also be noted that the local airline is making it easier for Americans to visit the islands with its regular connections from the West Coast to Nadi. The airline also offers affordable pricing, competing with other similar destinations like Tahiti or Hawaii.
What are the entry requirements for international travelers?

After Tourism Fiji started promoting its Zero Travel Restrictions throughout its website and social media platforms, highlighting it as a safe destination to visit, arriving is much easier. Travelers are not required to undergo a COVID test, provide proof of vaccination, or take out travel insurance to cover their trip. However, Tourism Fiji does recommend travel insurance for peace of mind when visiting.
Care Fiji Commitment

Meanwhile, the Fiji Tourism Industry has introduced a certification to reflect the WHO-approved standard of best health and safety practices. The certification has been introduced to accommodation and tourism operations. Moreover, the tourism board claims that most operators in the tourism sector have been certified or approved. Meanwhile, it is recommended to stay at CFC-certified accommodation in Fiji.
Fiji Airways has created a Travel Ready program in 2020 to cooperate with health authorities and with guidance from the World Health Organization. While the pandemic is over, the program will remain in effect to provide guidance to visitors.
