With a long hot summer in the rear-view mirror, fall is a wonderful season to travel, not only for the fall foliage. The cooler temperatures are perfect for exploring new cities and destinations and immersing ourselves in different cultures. Time Out magazine has recently revealed the 5 best global cities to explore during the fall.

According to Timeout, searches for “autumn cities” are up by 40 percent as compared to 2023. Meanwhile, the cities that come up in their list are pretty spectacular for visit between early September and late November.

1. London, England

According to Timeout, London is the number one city to visit in the fall. While the city buzzes with crowds in the summer, between the fall and Christmas is the ideal time to visit the UK’s capital. Meanwhile, as London is a green city with many public parks, visitors have a huge choice of opportunities for viewing the fall foliage. Meanwhile, up until the end of October, deckchairs are available for hire in Hyde Park, St. James’ Park and Regent’s Park for a mere £4 ($5.30) for one hour or £5 ($6.70) for two hours.

2. Seoul, South Korea

When it comes to the South Korean capital, fall is the peak travel season in Seoul. The skies remain blue and the cooler temperatures are ideal for sightseeing. Temperatures are usually between 10 to 20°C (50 to 68°F) in October. When it comes to fall foliage the best place to visit is the garden in the iconic Changdeokgung Palace. The park hosts more than 26,000 trees making it a great place to enjoy a fall picnic. Alternatively, head up to North Seoul Tower on Namsan Mountain to view the stunning fall foliage from above.

For those seeking sunset colors over the city, the top of the Eiffel Tower is the place to be. Fall is one of the best times to visit Copenhagen, where the Tivoli Gardens is dressed in fall shades. While it is chilly, the city still has plenty of daylight hours to explore during September and October. What makes an autumn visit even better is that crowd levels are lower, making it easy to explore the city. Visitors can visit the gardens at the Rosenborg Castle, where the Renaissance castle is surrounded by fall colors in the heart of the city. Meanwhile, the Austrian city’s parks and botanical gardens are full of beautiful fall foliage.
