Universal Studios Hollywood was challenged to create the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster and it was announced on May 3 that the new and thrilling ride will include “groundbreaking 360-degree rotation of the individual ride vehicles as they rocket along an elaborate track.”  Meanwhile, the goal was to design and create the sensation of drifting cars as guests spin in motion at incredibly fast speeds.

Moreover, the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Roller Coaster is the park’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster. In fact, it is set to “elevate the guest experience with innovative and technological achievements never previously employed in a roller coaster.”

However, fans of the movie and exciting roller coasters in general will have to wait until its debut in 2026.

Scott Strobl, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Universal Studios Hollywood said in a statement:

As a premier entertainment theme park destination with a rich history in immersing guests in incredible rides based on today’s most inspiring movie, television and gaming properties, we are excited to introduce our very first, high-speed outdoor roller coaster.

As Universal Studios Hollywood continues to evolve, the arrival of ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ will be a powerful game changer that will infuse a new level of thrill into our already dynamic theme park, and we look forward to welcoming guests when it races onto the scene in 2026.

Where will the roller coaster be located at Universal Studios Hollywood?

The Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Roller Coast is set to be located on the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood. Guests waiting for the ride of a lifetime will queue in a large, red brick garage style structure before climbing into the ride vehicles. Meanwhile, those vehicles have been modeled after a number of cars featured in the movies and will then catapult along an aerial track that winds its way over the theme park while spinning 360 degrees in the air.

Meanwhile, the Fast & Furious film franchise has led to several blockbuster sequels, with the original movie now almost 20 years old.

In April, Universal Studios Hollywood introduced a new stunt show also based on a movie, but in this case, it’s The Fall Guy. According to Travelpulse, the WaterWorld attraction opened on April 27. Moreover, the attraction is dubbed The Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show. The new stunt performance features an original storyline designed to give guests a peek behind the curtain of how stunt performances are brought to life. This new attraction is based on the movie that debuted on May 3, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
