Quick and Easy Cures for Motion Sickness
I’m not as young as I used to be, and those thrill rides at my favorite parks are extremely fun, but can churn that cotton candy and burger with all the swinging, spinning, and upside down swoops. Same goes for cruising and water adventures. If you’re prone to motion sickness, make sure keep these quick and easy cures for motion sickness in mind…
Prevent Motion Sickness
Just like you slather on sunscreen to avoid getting burned, make sure you attempt to prevent the problem with meds you know work. Talk to your doctor about what works best for you. Dramamine is a popular over-the-counter option, but note that it can make you drowsy. It’s also not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.
Natural Motion Sickness Remedy for Motion Sickness
If your motion sickness can’t be curbed with over the counter drugs, try ginger pills. Make sure you find the pure ginger capsules, to avoid any reactions with other herbs. The University of Maryland Medical Center advises taking 250 milligrams of ginger three times a day, as needed for motion sickness. If your motion sickness victim is younger or can’t swallow pills, dissolve a capsule of ginger powder in some water.
Cool Down Motion Sickness Relief
A cool damp washcloth (or paper towels in a pinch) placed on the forehead and back of the neck will work wonders at making you more comfortable.
Music Soothes the Soul
Max Levine, an associate professor of psychology at Siena College, found that music provided a distraction for those suffering from motion sickness. Turn on some soothing tunes, and focus on the sweet music.
Focus on Something Stationary
Keeping your eyes focused on a fix point. Keeping your gaze on something stationary, even if you are moving, will trick your brain into syncing with inner ear and make your body think you aren’t moving.
