Viking Cruises Welcomes Back US Travelers in BermudaTravel news reveals that Viking Cruises hit a major milestone today when it welcomed back American guests for the first time in 15 months. US travelers were greeted in Bermuda as the company continued its operations restart.

Today guests boarded the Viking Orion® in Hamilton and set sail on the brand new Bermuda Escape itinerary. The itinerary is being offered to travelers as a part of the cruise line’s Welcome Back tour collection.

Viking Cruises Is Welcoming US Guests Again

The new series is available for vaccinated guests only. Today marks the first of eight roundtrip sailings from Hamilton that Viking has planned for the summer season. Once guests depart the capital city they will enjoy an eight-day cruise around the British island territory plus have an overnight call in King’s Wharf.

Viking kicked off it’s reopening period in May. Since that time they have been sailing in England with British guests. In a few days Viking will launch Welcome Back sailings around Iceland and in the Mediterranean. In July it will restart its European river operations in with itineraries in Portugal, France and along the Rhine.

Viking Cruises Is Enjoying a Restart Period

The Welcome Back voyages all include a state of the art health and safety program designed to keep guests safe while they enjoy the trip of a lifetime. The Viking Health & Safety Program was developed by Raquel C. Bono, M.D., Viking’s Chief Health Officer, and an international team of medical professionals.

On board every ship is a laboratory in contact with of string of shoreside labs. All guests and crew will be given ongoing coronavirus tests.

The cruise line has also installed a new air purification system on all ships to go along with the additional health checks. In addition, sanitization and physical distancing measures are in place to ensure guest and crew safety.

Torstein Hagen is the Chairman of Viking and he said, “Today is an extraordinary milestone as the world continues to reopen for international travel. On behalf of the entire Viking family, we are delighted to welcome our loyal American guests back on board.”

He added, “We applaud the government of Bermuda for its collaboration and support as we have restarted our operations. Bermuda has been a favorite destination among our guests since our ocean ships began calling there in 2017, and we look forward to introducing even more Viking guests to the island’s history, culture and phenomenal natural beauty.”
