American Airlines To Add 2 New Nonstop Routes to Jamaica and Bermuda

After a long, hot summer we are gradually heading towards winter and many of us dream of an island vacation in the sun. However, at this time of the year, it can be difficult to plan an overseas trip to the beach, which is leading certain airlines to expand their offerings. In the case of American Airlines, they are planning two, new nonstop flights to the Caribbean sun at the end of this year and the beginning of 2024.

American Airlines offers two new nonstop flights to the sand and sun

While people dream of traveling to warmer climes, American Airlines has recently introduced several new routes, starting at the end of 2023 and the start of 2024. Two special routes will be nonstop flights to gorgeous Jamaica and Bermuda. Read on to find out more about these convenient direct flights.

New direct route to Jamaica

On February 24, 2024, American Airlines will launch its first route between Miami and Ian Fleming International Airport. Meanwhile, the airport lies around six miles from Ocho Rios in northern Jamaica.

Moreover, Ian Fleming International Airport is one of the best-connected airports in Jamaica. In fact, it serves as a gateway to some of the island nation’s most popular tourism hotspots, including Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.

Initially, US travelers will have the opportunity to fly twice a week on an Embraer 175 aircraft which can carry a little less than 80 passengers. While the plane’s capacity might seem limited, at this time there are no other airlines flying between these two destinations. For this reason, the new route between Jamaica and the US will be significant.

Meanwhile, the airline is planning to expand the frequency of these flights once peak season is here. This will give all travelers the chance to book some tickets to experience Jamaica in the new year.

American Airlines adds new direct route to Bermuda

Meanwhile, another new American Airlines route will launch next year to link Washington DC with the Caribbean island of Bermuda. However, this isn’t entirely new, as the airline did offer direct flights between the two airports up until 2019. There have been no direct flights between Washington, DC and Bermuda since then. If you were to travel to Bermuda right now, you would have to book a route with at least one stop along the way.

According to ticket prices on the American Airlines website at this time, the cheapest flight connecting the two destinations costs $560 and includes a stop at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Meanwhile, from April 4, 2024, this problem goes away as the airline launches a direct route that looks like it will be here to stay.
