American Heartland To Build $2 Billion Theme Park & Resort Development In Oklahoma

In a recent news release, American Heartland announced a $2 billion theme park and resort development. Comparable in size to Disneyland or the Magic Kingdom at Disney World, the 1,000-acre resort destination expects to attract over 4.9 million guests each year to Oklahoma.

American Heartland Theme Park and Resort coming to Oklahoma

Oklahoma state and local officials joined American Heartland in announcing the new American Heartland Theme Park and Resort. The new $2 billion entertainment development is to be located in northeast Oklahoma, a little west of Grand Lake on Route 66.

According to the announcement, the theme park will be built in phases. In phase one, a large-scale RV park with cabins is scheduled to open in spring 2025. Following this, a world-class theme park and resort will open in 2026. According to CNN, the theme park and resort will offer a unique visitor experience and will rival the top resort destinations in the world.

American Heartland CEO Larry Wilhite said in a statement:

We are thrilled to make Oklahoma the home of American Heartland Theme Park and Resort. At the crossroads of the heartland, Oklahoma is an attractive location for a family entertainment destination. The state’s business-friendly approach and innovative partnership efforts have helped make this possible. We look forward to bringing unforgettable generational experiences to Oklahoma.

The new theme park will be a 1,000-acre development, with a 125-acre theme park. It will feature an Americana-themed environment with fun rides, family attractions, live shows and waterways, along with restaurant-quality food and beverage outlets.

Speaking of the new theme park, Oklahoma State Rep. Rusty Cornwell said:

Oklahoma is excited to welcome American Heartland Theme Park and Resort. Located on historic Route 66 just west of Grand Lake, the development will attract visitors from around the world to experience and celebrate the rich cultures and hometown values America has to offer.

Three Ponies RV Park and Campground

To be located adjacent to the theme park, the 320-acre Three Ponies RV Park and Campground will be the largest of its kind in the central US. Designed by Oklahoma architects, the park will offer 750 RV spaces and 300 cabins plus the necessary amenities.

Besides the RV Park and Campground, a 300-room hotel is also in development, along with a modern indoor water park.

The design team is led by Executive Producer Steve Hedrick and his team consists of the world’s best theme park designers. Among them are more than 20 former Disney Parks buildings and Walt Disney Imagineers. Meanwhile, among the design firms are THG, FORREC and Cuningham, whose portfolios include foremost theme park brands such as Disney Parks, Universal Studios and Six Flags.

The family-friendly theme park promises timeless fun and adventure. Among the attractions will be a collection of six American lands, taking guests on a journey through the best of the American Story. Families will experience heartwarming shows and thrilling rides while exploring Bayou Bay, Big Timber Falls, Electropolis, Great Plains, Liberty Village and Stony Point Harbor.
