Carnival Cruise Line Bans Passengers For Life For Onboard Fishing
Carnival Cruise Lines bans passengers for life for fishing
The story was first reported by WDBO.com, where a Carnival Cruise Lines representative confirmed the story. In a statement shared with the news outlet, the representative stated:
Fishing from our ships is prohibited. We have identified the guests, and they will not be cruising on Carnival again.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson also confirmed that the passengers were identified due to a TikTok video circulating online, adding that they have been permanently banned from cruising with the company.
The now-deleted TikTok revealed passengers on a Carnival ship fishing from their cabin’s balcony. In the clip, a woman exclaims as a greenish-yellow fish of around one foot in length is pulled out of the water. Moreover, the incident took place while docked in the Bahamas.
A copy of the TikTok is included here, but viewers are warned about the strong language.

It remains unclear which ship the incident took place on, but it looked to have been docked at the time the video was made. After garnering millions of views, the clip was deleted.
Other bans on Carnival Cruise Line
This isn’t the first time news has done the rounds about Carnival Cruise Line banning passengers. As reported by WDBO, a woman sailing aboard a Carnival ship in August was banned for life for packing CBD gummies in her carry-on bag on a cruise from Miami, Florida.
Melinda Van Veldhuizen was found to be boarding the Carnival Horizon with the CBD gummies. She claimed she uses the gummies as an occasional sleep aid, but when going through security at the check-in for her cruise, a security guard spotted the item. Van Veldhuizen was then taken to a secure area at PortMiami for further questioning.
The CBD gummies were legally purchased online, and CBD is conditionally legal in Florida but must have less than .3 percent THC to be legal. Meanwhile, Van Veldhuizen’s gummies were only .01 percent, well below the threshold. However, the cruise line bans all CBD products regardless of strength or local regulations.
Carnival Cruise Line’s list of illegal products reads:
Any illegal narcotics/drugs including synthetic, designer drugs, Cannabidiol (CBD) and medical marijuana [are prohibited]. While certain CBD products used for medicinal purposes may be legal in the US, they are not legal in all the ports we visit and therefore are also considered prohibited items.
Van Veldhuizen received a letter notifying her of the lifetime ban, and likely, the passengers caught fishing received a similar letter. The letter also warned not to attempt to book another cruise, writing, “Your attempt to book a future cruise will result in cancellation and a possible loss of deposit monies.”
If planning to sail with Carnival Cruise Line in the future, carefully check the cruise line’s rules and regulations so as not to be banned from future cruises.
