Travel Fun With The Kobo Aura H2O – Read To Your Heart’s Content! #OpenUpKobo
There are two kind of vacations – the kind where you travel to a new place and spend 14 hour days on your feet trying to complete everything on your itinerary, and the kind where you literally do nothing and put your feet up and get some R&R. I am in desperate need of the second kind. My husband and I finally left for Rome, Italy June 3 and this is where we will be one month. My idea of a good vacation is curling up with a book, outside, by myself, and enjoying the peace and quiet. I like to think of myself as a modern woman, though, so I have of course evolved to e-readers.
When you travel as much as I do and are as accident prone as I am, you tend to go through a fair share of gadgets and electronics. After losing my third e-reader to a freak bathtub accident, a friend of mine recommended Kobo Aura H2O. And, it has changed my life!
On our long 8-hour plane ride to Rome, my trip was made much easier by having my Kobo Aura H2O with me! I barely saw the time go by.
Durable and Waterproof!
The Kobo Aura H2O e-reader is not your typical e-reader, it’s durable and waterproof – right up my alley! I can’t tell you how many times I have damaged my electronics because of leaky water bottles in my purse, kids cannonballing at the pool or unexpected thunderstorms that I am pretty sure could be categorized as monsoons.
Obviously, if you toss the Kobo into your swimming pool and retrieve it a few days later, you are going to have problems. But, for all those times you accidentally get your screen wet or get caught in a monsoon – you are covered.
Battery Life
Battery life has always been a huge issue for me when it comes to e-readers too. I don’t know how many times I have been on a long flight and my e-reader has died. Seriously, how annoying is it when you are sitting outside in the middle of nowhere and about 20 pages away from learning whodunit, only to have your e-reader die? I’ve had my Kobo Aura H2O for two weeks now, and STILL have not run out of battery or charged it. You would think by how fast it turns the pages, it would be running out of juice, but it’s still going strong.
Like I said, I love reading outside on a warm summer day no matter where I am in the world – it’s my kind of paradise! But, if you have ever done so, then you know that glares from the sun can be a problem. Kobo Aura H2O is PERFECT for us outdoor readers. Not only is it waterproof, but also has a glare proof screen, making it easy to read in the sun without squinting. I am in Rome right now and am enjoying reading my Kobo Aura H2O on the terrace. Another fun thing, it’s also dustproof – which means you lucky people that live near the beach don’t have to worry about the sand.
Because I am away from home so long, one-month this time, I was like a kid in a candy shop when I started browsing the Kobo Bookstore, seriously their fiction books never end! I could read every second of the day for the rest of my life and probably wouldn’t even put a dent in them.
Luckily, I purchased a micro SD card, so I can save up to 32 GB worth of books (the e-reader comes with 4 GB built in). Plus, the books are SO affordable, I purchased 5 books from the Kobo store for the price I would have paid for one paperback.

Customizable Font
I’ll be the first to admit that my eyes are not what they used to be (and I am sure I am not the only one that has this problem). So, I was thrilled when I realized that the fonts on the Kobo Aura H2O were totally adjustable. You can kiss those reading glasses goodbye. Not only can you play with the sharpness of the words on the 6”8 screen – but there are 24 different font sizes. And, I was impressed with how clear and beautiful the high-resolution images appeared.
