2017 Changes To Theme Parks, Loyalty Programs and Airlines2017 has ushered in a year of monumental changes for travelers. 2017 changes to airlines, hotel loyalty perks, and theme parks are just a few of the travel segments that will see major alterations this year.

Airlines will continue their trend of carving the main cabin space into basic and basic+ seating. American Airlines will offer both basic and premium economy classes, and it will provide bigger lounges for its business and first class customers. In addition, first-class passengers will enjoy free tableside meal service.

Delta’s international passengers will experience Delta Premium Select on some flights. The experience includes a Tumi amenity kit, seasonal menus, power ports, and priority check-in. If you fly business-class you can look forward to the new Delta One suites, all of which include a seat that becomes a bed.

After their merger, Virgin America and Alaska Airlines will be the fifth biggest airline in the US. If you’re a member of Virgin’s loyalty program you are now eligible to enroll in Alaska Airline’s Mileage Plan.

Loyalty programs are also implementing creative changes for 2017, starting with the demise of Hyatt’s Gold Passport program. The replacement program, World of Hyatt, has three elite tiers instead of two, and status is no longer determined by stays. Instead, points and nights will determine your status.

Marriott International will add nearly 30 luxury hotels in 2017. Ritz-Carleton, St. Regis, and W Hotels will be among the new hotels to beckon travelers.

Theme park fans have a bonanza of new rides and attractions to look forward to in 2017. Walt Disney Resort will premiere, “Pandora – The World of Avatar.” Inspired by the James Cameron film, the fantastical land features the boat ride Na’vi River Journey, on which passengers experience a magical journey through bioluminescent forests.

SeaWorld Orlando is calling the update to its current Kraken roller coaster, “the only VR coaster experience in Florida.” Riders can expect a heightened, more realistic, thrill ride thanks to high-tech headsets that enhance the deep sea mission journey.

Lastly, Fans of LEGOLAND Florida Resort will be treated to the new Lego Ninjago, a kingdom influenced by the, “Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu,” television show. The new attraction invites fans of all ages to wander through an enchanted, martial arts-themed land.
