Margaritaville at Sea is a unique cruise line, as it only operates one ship, the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise. This fun ship sails from Palm Beach, Florida to Freeport Bahamas. Meanwhile, the cruise ship is unique for another reason, as they only offer three-day, two-night sailings to the Bahamas. Recently, many cruise lines are offering good deals, and Margaritaville at Sea has done the same. In fact, the cruise line offers unlimited cruises to the end of 2023 for a new $899 pass. This sounds like a great deal, but is it truly worthwhile for travelers?

As mentioned, the Margaritaville at Sea cruise line only operates one cruise ship, dubbed the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise. Moreover, the cruise ship only sails between the Port of Palm Beach, Florida, and Freeport, Bahamas.

In fact, the cruise line only operates three-day, two-night sailings to the Bahamas, so anyone looking for a longer sailing should look elsewhere. However, for anyone seeking a fun and brief tropical getaway, this could be the best choice.

Meanwhile, the cruise is themed to Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville brand, but you don’t have to be a fan to enjoy a cruise. Also, admittedly, Margaritaville at Sea does attract older sailors, but that doesn’t stop it being a fun Bahamas getaway for any age.

About the Unlimited Paradise Pass

Margaritaville at Sea made an announcement this week about the new Unlimited Paradise Pass. In fact, it is the first of its kind in cruising and literally offers passengers unlimited Bahamas cruises through to the end of 2023 for only $899. Each pass includes the stateroom, standard food and beverages and entertainment. However, does this sound too good to be true? Not really, but there are some catches that people should be aware of.

The fine print for the Margaritaville at Sea Unlimited Paradise Pass includes certain restrictions, as follows:

  • The pass cannot be used for consecutive sailings – in other words you can’t stay on the ship to enjoy one long, multiple cruise.
  • The cruise must be booked 24 to 72 hours in advance.
  • The price is based on double occupancy, so you will need to bring along a friend or face a $159 single occupancy surcharge.
  • Taxes, fees and port expenses are not included in the pass and add up to $94.40 that must be paid for each cruise. Moreover, gratuities are not included in the pass.
  • Passengers cannot select a stateroom in advance and will be assigned an inside stateroom, or ocean-view stateroom on arrival at the terminal.
  • Last, but by no means least, there are a number of blackout dates through 2023 when the pass cannot be used: July 2, July 28, September 2, November 23, and December 31.

Who can benefit from the Margaritaville at Sea Unlimited Paradise Pass?

Obviously, with the restrictions mentioned above, the Unlimited Paradise Pass is not suitable for everyone. However, there are some situations where this might be a good deal. For instance, if you live in Palm Beach County, Florida or close by, have a travel companion and fancy a short getaway to the Bahamas at least three times during 2023, the pass is perfect.

The Margaritaville at Sea three-day, two-night cruises start at $169 per person (plus taxes, port expenses, fees and gratuities). This means the pass pays for itself after around three cruises.

However, if passengers don’t live near Palm Beach, they need to factor in the costs to travel to the port. Also, as a single sailor, and paying a $159 single supplement each time, the pass won’t be good value.
