Throughout our planet, some beaches are pebbly, others have fine or coarse sand. Colors range according to the shells crushed by the waves with anything from white sand to black sand, pink sand and anything in between. Some of these strips of sand are in colder countries and others in the tropics.

Admittedly, not everyone loves getting sand in their shoes, but others like nothing better than soaking up the sun on the sand or paddling in the shallow waters. Our favorite beaches are all different and so are we. However, there is something a lot of people have agreed on and according to a new study, the following are considered the best beaches in the world

1. Playa De Muro, Mallorca, Spain

Nestled in the Bay of Alcudia on the island of Mallorca, Playa de Muro is set in a new resort, so doesn’t have the historic background many have in Spain. However, besides its 8 km (5 mi) of fine sand, clean turquoise waters and dreamy sunsets, there is more to this place.

Here visitors can enjoy water sports, nature, culture, birdwatching and gastronomy as well as soak up the sun. Meanwhile, visitors particularly like the beach for its shallow water that goes quite far out, making it ideal for children and for swimming.

2. Spiaggia Dei Conigli, Lampedusa Island, Italy

The name of this beach might not be familiar to everyone and for good reason. This lovely stretch of sand is almost hidden away on Lampedusa Island in Sicily. Known in English as Rabbit Beach, it does take some effort to get there. However, Lampedusa is connected to Sicily’s main island by ferry and plane.

Meanwhile, Spiaggia Dei Conigli is constantly ranked one of the best beaches in Europe and due to it forming part of a nature reserve, it retains its natural beauty and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

3. Falasarna Beach, Crete, Greece

Next stop is the island of Crete in Greece, where Falasarna Beach lies on the western coast. This beautiful beach is favored by many for its pinkish-white, powder sand, as well as the local amenities.

While this stretch of sand isn’t hidden away like some beaches and is already popular, the sheer size of the stunning landscape gives plenty of room to enjoy in peace.

4. Baia do Sancho, Fernando de Noronha, Brazil

Baia do Sancho is regularly listed as one of the best beaches in the world and for good reason. It is set in a national park on a tiny island in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago in Brazil. This makes it perfect for those who love nature and clear aqua waters, surrounded by rugged cliffs.

Moreover, you know it has to be good when a beach isn’t that easy to reach. In fact, Baia do Sancho can only be accessed via a walkway through the woods, then down a long ladder through a crevice in the jagged rocks.

5. Turquoise Bay, Western Australia

Located on Australia’s coral coast, Turquoise Bay is perfect all year round. The beach is 43 mi northwest of Exmouth in the Cape Range National Park. Meanwhile, the clean sand, lapped by crystal-clear waters is also the gateway to the famous Ningaloo Reef.
