The Lord of the Rings Trilogy wasn’t the first thing that helped New Zealand became a popular destination. After all, The Hobbit Trilogy and the movie The Piano also helped to push the Pacific island nation as an excellent place for many a bucket list. And now, the exciting news arrived that there are more options to get to the land of the “Clean and Green.”

A Reginal Partnership

The latest news seems great for those folks who hate stopovers on long-haul flights. According to The Malaysia Voice, “Malaysia Airlines and Tourism New Zealand…formalised a two-year strategic partnership to jointly stimulate travel demand to New Zealand.”

What does it mean for you, the person with wanderlust? Well, soon, you can fly direct from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and land in Auckland, New Zealand. For starters, it’s good news because it bypasses Australia’s rigid border control. Plus, it means that plenty of new flights make for flexibility in your travel planning.

Additionally, the planes are comfortable and modern as Malaysia Airlines uses the A330neo aircraft.

Cutting Down Travel Time

Travel and Tour World also discussed the new service between the two countries. In their article, they stressed the time factor:

[The] link between the two destinations significantly reduces travel time, offering passengers seamless access to one of the most sought-after destinations in the Southern Hemisphere.

Both articles cited various people who matter in both countries who went on about convenience and beautiful travel destinations. But it’s the mention about time that really matters.

If you’ve ever traveled to New Zealand, depending where you start your journey, it always seems to take forever. Talk about jet lag. Sometimes you land the day before you departed.

Lots To Do In NZ

Malaysia is a popular destination, so getting to the land known by the Māori as Aotearoa, the Land of the Long White Cloud, brings added experiences.

Known as the land of extreme tourism, there are a lot of other things for visitors to do. More than Queenstown, the top of the South brings stunning beaches, palm trees, and splendid valleys tucked away in the mountains.

Hikers shouldn’t overlook the Golden Bay walkways either. Or, the stunning coastlines around Nelson.

Meanwhile, the North Island seems particularly interesting. Auckland has a nightlife and lots of fun things to do like hiking, whale watching, wine tasting and more.

Other interesting aspects involve the pitch black volcanic beaches set against an impossibly blue ocean. Or, take a trip to Rotorua, famous for hot geysers and local Māori culture.

Mountains Parks & Skiing

New Plymouth shouldn’t be overlooked on the west coast with stunning Mount Taranaki, parks and gardens. Of course, another place of interest in New Zealand is Whakapapa. And not just because “Wh” is locally pronounced as “F”.

You can work it out as to why people smile about that. Nearby, is Mount Ruapehu, a massive peak situated inside Tongariro National Park. Skiing is very popular in that region.
