Which Swiss ski resort has been named best in the world?
Omio’s research assessed more than 6,000 resorts, based on 11 factors, including the cost of an adult, youth and child ticket, if there is access to a ski school, customer ratings, the number of events at the resort during the ski season and the distance of each course.
While one might think a luxurious ski resort might come up at number one, it turns out the winning European ski resort has passes that start at around €30 ($32), which comes as a relief after prices across Europe’s ski slopes were hiked last season. So, which ski resort in Switzerland has been named the best in the world?
Omio names Arosa Lenzerheide in Switzerland as the best ski resort in the world
According to the research, the resort has an impressive 4.7 out of 5-star average reviews from previous guests. Moreover, the price of a day pass for an adult is €89 ($96), at €59 ($64) for a youth and €29 ($31) for children.
While the prices are more on the expensive side when compared to other resorts, here you are paying for state-of-the-art facilities, and the chance to enjoy a good variety of ski runs, or to relax in cozy mountain restaurants.
What else does the resort have to offer?
Meanwhile, seven events are held at the resort during the ski season, including the FIS Ski Cross World Cup Arosa and the Swiss Snow Walk and Run.
Moreover, the closest place to fly into to access the ski resort is Zurich. However, guests can also consider arriving by train from other European cities.
Europe is home to the top 20 ski resorts in the world
While Arosa Lenzerheide comes up tops, it is not too surprising to learn that European ski resorts dominate the rankings due to their geography. Meanwhile, the Alps have long been a popular location for skiers, but now, skiers can easily find the best resorts, based on their preferred ski vacation destination.
Five resorts in Switzerland feature in the top 20 Omio rankings, while Austria hosts 12 of the top spots. Meanwhile, France and Italy took the other three places.
