Most of us are more than happy to put 2021 in our rearview mirrors and to celebrate 2022 with fireworks, parties, champagne and fun. Next week, cities will put on their best displays as the world turns to their timeline, celebrating the coming New Year 2022. You might not be able to travel to these five destinations this year, but you can enjoy video footage of some of the best NYE celebrations in the world and make a plan for New Year’s 2022/2023!
Sydney, Australia
Sydney is one of the most impressive locations to ring in the New Year 2022. Each year, the Australian city puts on a fantastic firework display, lighting up Sydney Harbor, the Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. One fabulous way to experience the celebrations is to take a luxurious harbor cruise, experiencing the fireworks from out on the water, with drinks and food included! Otherwise, head to one of the many waterfront restaurants to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style.
Las Vegas, Nevada
With its luxury hotels and casinos, Las Vegas puts on an impressive show every day of the year. However, New Year’s Eve in Vegas is an experience not to be missed. However, the fireworks are what really crown the NYE show in Las Vegas as they are carefully coordinated to blaze into life from every tall rooftop in the city.

However, as the clock strikes midnight in this fabulous city a magnificent display is held. Many people gather at the Dubai Fountain waterfront to witness the amazing display of light and sound show on the Burj Khalifa, along with a beautiful water show at the Dubai Fountain. If you are feeling hungry, enjoy a feast at one of the waterfront restaurants and enjoy the breathtaking performance as it happens. Meanwhile, to get the best views of the downtown fireworks, head to Burj Plaza.
Times Square, New York City, USA
One iconic location to see in the New Year is in Times Square, New York City, where thousands of people gather to watch the famous Ball Drop. As the seconds count down a 12-foot ball, comprised of 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles, gradually drops down to welcome in the New Year. As the Crystal Ball drops at midnight, massive screens all over the square give everyone a great view of the celebrations. Possibly, the only thing that spoils the historic Ball Drop is the adverts blasted all over Times Tower as it happens. Meanwhile, mesmerizing firework displays are held over New York Harbor and Central Park to see in the New Year.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
The Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro is renowned for its famous New Year Copacabana Beach Party, where thousands gather to witness the arrival of the coming year. As the New Year arrives on the beach in Rio an amazing firework display lights up the sky. Following the firework display, it is traditional for locals to jump over seven waves while making seven wishes. Others offer floating candles and flowers to the Goddess Iemanjá – Mother of Water and Patroness and Protector of Children and Fishermen – to make their wishes for the brand new year.
